Meet me, greet me and make my supper, MMmm

Well today was the start of of my "count down to christmas". I am such a christmas nut. You should have seen me at work today-I was wearing flashing angel earrings, bells pin, a hair band with snow man ontop, and of course to top it all off, I musical bell hanging from my belt loop. Every time I was called to my cash today I pressed the buttons and it was really fun to watch the customers look around for the music.
Oh ya-I work at a certain dollar store by the way-and it rocks. I am a supervisor there, and no thanks I would never want to be more than that. I have been through 3 different bosses in the last 6 months and 3 district managers in the last year. I really wouldn't want to chance anything more. I have been with the company for 5 years and plan on at least another 5. Hey the deals are awesome, and first dibs on everything that comes through the doors really rocks.

A little about me-I am a complete nut case, honestly. I have 2 boys 11 and 12 years old, also a wonderful husband. He has to be the most bravest (is there such a word?) man out there, afterall I had kicked out my oldest son the day he turned 12 to a basement bedroom just so I could have me DREAM CRAFT/COMPUTER ROOM. Does that make me a bad mom?? Oh I think it just means I am obsessed with crafts. Afterall I almost do it all. I could have quite a few yard sales come spring, sell my pants off, and still have tons of stuff leftover.

I am into....

scrapbooking-BIG time.
knitting-anything that is straight knitting, I have only made blankets, scarves and a ton of dishcloths.
cross stitch-I love it when I have my down time at work, so I get lots of hours off to work on it
rug hooking-I am in the middle of a beautiful pink area rug, I found the kit at a yard sale for $5, the girl was given it for a wedding gift and never took interest
beading-not big into this, but trying all sorts of things with it
plastic canvas-one of my favorite passtimes, I have done a lot of this craft, and plan on doing tons more too.
and last but not least-trying crochet-I have taught myself the basic chains so far, but really need some work on it.

I am big into learning on the computer, and seem to never know enough about it either-I might take a computer course soon.

Well as for today what I have done---hmmm where to start.....

I worked at that famous store, putting lots and lots of christmas things out-glitter everywhere and I mean everywhere, in my hair, my eyes and yes even in my bra.

Customers are starting to get really really cranky too, not liking that they have to wait 2 minutes in line. Hey we need our breaks too, I am going on a 60 hour week this week, no days off, and I should smile cause I make the big bucks huh???

Customers all day asking where things are, now come on people wouldn't it be too good to be true if the buck store was selling toasters, cigarettes, and cell phones?? Not likely people. We do have lots of cool things though. We got in today some kids christmas books that have a price tag of $9.99 and 14.99 each. I bought some for my neice for christmas, heck at a book store I would have only been able to buy 1, but at the dollar store I bought 8 and still had money left over.

Well my shift ended and I came home to get the kids fed and dressed all warm for this year's santa parade. It was the first year that the parade had lights since it was a night time one. It was really a beautiful parade and a really nice night too.

I had a friend tell my about blogging today and I told her that it was definately something I would love to try. I love to meet and chat with new people and learn new things. I plan on putting recipes on here too, hope that is allowed, don't remember seeing that I can't do that-these are just some family favorites.

Well I don't want to type my first blog for hours or I will never have anything else to post.

Here is my first recipe, an old old family favorite...

We called it Round potatoes

in a large roast pan layer the following;

2 pounds ground beef (estimate, can use less or more or even ground turkey or chicken)
tomato juice -enough to cover entire pan
tomato paste to thicken ( can use tomato soup if out of paste)
sliced onions
peeled sliced potatoes

put into a 350-375 o oven-time will depend on how much is in pan
done when you put fork into potato and it breaks apart

You just gotta dunk bread into the sauce too-never enough sauce.

Enjoy gang, compliments of my grandma, mom of 15 kids.
